Accessory Wednesday: Bright Autumn Bags

Ingrid Leather Tote

Black bags are almost impossible to resist – just like my black trouser addiction, it’s my default colour for bags, too. But, I really do like a flash of bright on autumn accessories that don’t tie into the whole autumn theme (i.e. russet, brown, urgh). I’ve got two winter coats at the moment, one black and one cream (and not counting the leopardy print one that I haven’t found the courage to wear yet!) and mostly, my colour palette for clothes is neutral and black, so a ping of bright colour always fits in really well and offsets the safer shades. The bag above is the Ingrid Leather Tote from Marks & Spencer, and it’s £89 HERE. This is also going to work really well with the blue nail theme that’s also strong for a/w.

Jigsaw Red Bucket Bag

I’ve never owned a red bag in my life, and now I’ve seen this Jigsaw one, I’m wondering why! The Bucket Bag is a blackened-red, so no in-your-face scarlet – it looks pretty capacious, too although it is described as a mini-bucket. I’m wondering about the twiddly bow, though. That could get old quite quickly. Anyway, if you’re more patient than me, it’s HERE for £149.

Paul's Boutique Bowling Bag

So far, this is my favourite, although you either love or loathe Paul’s Boutique. If you Google Paul’s Boutique, there are so many forum listings asking ‘is Paul’s Boutique chavvy?’ – seriously, there are! I don’t know the history of the brand so it doesn’t hold any connotations for me (and I hate the word chavvy) – to me it just looks like it’s going to go really well with my cream winter coat! Anyway, it’s HERE for £65.

  1. I love the first bag, it’s such a gorgeous colour of blue! As much as I would love to dash and pick it up right now, I bought a pretty similar coloured one a while ago, so that will have to satisfy my blue craving for now!

  2. I’ve got the Paul’s Boutique bag one size up and I love it. It’s quite a bit brighter than it shows in the picture (more like a neon coral/pink), but it’s really nice quality and a perfect pop of colour in autumn and winter.

  3. I always love the look of bright handbags but end up settling on the neutral version, will need to change things for up for this winter and go abit brighter!

So here’s the thing…I think M&S do some great bags, but for me…and it’s the same with this lovely blue one…it’s the straps/handles that are just never right…eg if the strap on this was just a bit shorter it would be so much better!! Love the red one, you definitely need a red bag on your life – and even though its expensive I’d be cutting those footery ribbon bits right off!!

I would happily carry a vibrant coloured bag. If any time, Winter is exactly when you need bright colours. I love bright accessories, even a bright coat, to wear through the dull Winter months. I had a red coat I wore to death and haven’t found a suitable replace for yet.
