Lalique Oceans Crystal Scented Candle, £1,200 HERE. I can’t deny this is a thing of beauty – and it’s Lalique so I guess the value will hold long after the wax has gone. One for each end of the mantlepiece I think.

La Prairie Ultimate Platinum Skincare Set, £1,220 HERE. You could, quite literally, have diamonds instead. How good can it possibly be? I know, however, that this brand has fans who swear by every drop and are happy to pay the big bucks.
Victoria Beckham for Estee Lauder New York Set, £715 HERE. I’m having trouble making this one add up – it’s four products: a six shade eye palette, a lip gloss, a lip pencil and a bronzer. So, that’s one expensive makeup bag.
I’m pretty sure I turned down trying these masks because I couldn’t justify a £60 sheet mask. The blurb says that the masks ensure that ‘skin appears smoother, hydrated and rejuvenated from first use’. I’d expect more to be honest, because that’s not offering anything more than any other mask. The box set, should you wish for it is £300 HERE. For five.
I know we all love By Terry Baume de Rose Delux but this special box will set you back £195 HERE. The pot is 25g (regular size is 10g and costs £39) and the box contains real roses specially treated to last a year.
Like La Prairie, Sisley fans don’t mind how much they spend to get hold of their favourite skin care. The Sisley GlobeTrotter Vanity Case is £1,150 HERE and you’ll be pleased to know that it’s leather. All very well to gawp but this sold out last year.
Containing 24k gold, this Chantecaille Set will set you back £665 HERE. I’ve never seen any scientific papers saying that gold has real value in anti-ageing. I think maybe if you’re after gold, find it in your jewellery instead.
Even at £1,200 HERE, I can see this Murano glass fragrance vase disappearing from the virtual Harrods shelves – there are any number of rare fragrance afficionados who want to accessorise their collections.
And speaking of… Roja Dove’s creation, A Goodnight Kiss, is £1,200 HERE. That better be one great kiss!

Estee Lauder set is really too expensive, in the end they are still Estee Lauder items inside. For the facial masks, what they can do more?? By Terry is really amazing, I saw it and the roses seems to come from a fairy tale. The Sisley gift… is the one that I would buy If I will have that much to spend… luxury market shows that there is still place for extreme shopping :).
I just don’t get it… I think I’ve got too old to be taken in by the nonsense.
I’m a lover of serious luxury but I want my money’s worth. It seems people are happy to pay just to be able to say ‘Look how much I can spend!’ these days. I fear for humankind….
