bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Half Shades

I’m pretty pleased with the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Half Shades because this product in Suede is in daily use. It’s my dog walking wear if you like and I put it on every single morning with a tiny splash of lip balm and blush. Just so I look a little bit presentable but not too glam for a dog walk! The claim is that it increases skin hydration and I certainly don’t have dry skin very often at all, but at the same time, I’m using any number of hydrators. I just like the minimal look coverage, the dewy finish coverage and the SPF30. It’s such an easy blend and more or less weightless on the skin.

However, one brand’s half shade is another brand’s full shade so I think what we can call these new colours is more shades! The daylight is absolutely rotten here today as London is under a cloud of grey but I haven’t put any filter on the pictures so that you can see the colours properly. Don’t forget that they’ve got an underwear of white (looking a bit grey to be honest!) paper.

Yes, one of them did splatter… no idea which one was the culprit though! There are six new shades, so if you are used to using one shade and your tone has changed with the season, you should be just about right for a half shade. All of the shades are split into cool, neutral and golden undertones.

My shade is Suede 4, and I find that Wheat 4.5 is a little warmer although its billed as a neutral. It’s a little bit confusing because not all shades have a half shade to accompany them. However, because they’re so sheer, they’re quite forgiving to a certain degree, so maybe I’m making this sound more complicated than it actually really is. All I can say is that it’s my daily go-to and I must be on at least tube 5 by now!

You can find the 10 shade line up HERE for £27 and the half shades join them in July.

  1. This is such a great idea, I’m usually Opal (shade 01) but in the summer this is a little bit pale for me. The trouble for me has always been that in the summer months vanilla makes me look pretty orange and it’s just not natural at all on my skin which defeats the point of the product!

It sounds as though Birch will be ideal for me so I can’t wait to get my hands on it when it launches. Thanks for the heads up Jane!

Me too! I love Opal so Birch will be perfect for me this season!

  2. I absolutely love Complexion Rescue and find that it works wonders on my skin although I definitely had the problem of being between shades! I’m so so happy they’ve released more! Thanks for sharing xx

  3. Shades of foundation is one of these things that no matter how many times we halve the steps between, it will just never be enough 🙂

    Hooray, love this product

  5. These sound great! I really want to try this for summer because it’ll be lighter than my foundation I’m using at the moment x

What a cool idea. I’ve bought so many foundations over the years that either made me look like a ghost (too light) or an Oompa Loompa (too dark). This would be a great way to solve the problem.

  8. This is one of my beauty staples!!! I use it everyday as a base or double up when I want to wear it alone. I am soooo happy they came out with more shades!! Now if only IT Cosmetics can get the same hint and come out with more than 5 shades! Love BM!
