Jo Malone London Orange Marmalade Cologne Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I think you’ll be pleased to know that Jo Malone London Orange Marmalade Cologne doesn’t smell particularly like marmalade. Marmalade is a very pleasing, very traditionally British smell but I am not sure you want to be forever associated with toast. However, the tie-in with Paddington is adorable and because of the sharpness of the orange zest, I can see exactly why it’s a match made in heaven.

On first spritz, you get a citrus rind bitterness which instantly reminded me of fizzing tonic water but behind that is some very sweet and delicious orange juiciness. It’s a tart meets sweet blend that is to the nose as marmalade is to the tongue.

Behind those beautiful openers are warm, cashmere woods that take it far away from a novelty fragrance experience into – like, I don’t want to say sexy (because Paddington!) but we could certainly suggest sensuality. It’s skin-like, wearable and actually very interesting in the dry down . You start with the fun part of that bitter sweet burst that certainly will take you momentarily to the breakfast table, but the ending is firmly back in bed and the alarm is not set!

I can see that visitors to the UK, looking for something much more exciting than a Tower of London T-shirt, will snap this up at the same rate that they’re flocking to the Bridgerton Tea. Jo Malone London Orange Marmalade Cologne is special for its quirkiness – it speaks to all of us about heritage, charm and individuality.  The 30ml is £58, the 100ml £124, HERE.
