Well, hello D&G, stepping right out of the comfort zone with these beautiful Sicilian Jewel lipsticks.

The shades are definitely going to challenge our ideas about what to wear on lips, but the packaging is gorgeous with fat studs of ‘jewel’ on the top.

So here we are: the red is Ruby, the green is Emerald, the purple is Amethyst and the pale gold shade is Topaz.

So, what do you think? Will you be wearing green or purple lips? I think what you could say is they reflect their theme of jewels very well – in the same way you can have fun with jewellery and dress it up or down, lipsticks in these shades – particularly green – can be either vampy-sophisticated or plain and simple fun. The shades are all well pigmented; Ruby is the most obviously wearable in a deep red with a slight sheen; Amethyst has a nuance of metallic in the sheen, Topaz doesn’t look quite so pale gold on – I think it would make a good top-coat for other shades, and Emerald, well, that is just exactly as it looks – very green!

The Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Jewels are launching into Harrods on 1st November for £27 each.

  1. I love the packaging and it’s a fun idea, but out of those shades it’ll be red for me – call me traditional :o). Xx

  2. Not sure about the shades! Packaging is quirky though!

  3. I like the packaging and the red looks lovely. Not sure about the other colours, although I’d never say never!

  4. I think they look fun – but might be a little expensive for some of the more harder to wear colours. I am not that adventurous when it comes to my lipstick. The red might be the only one I would wear.

If this was say a Barry M range/price you might think ok, bit out there, bit of fun, (haloween!) but at £27 a pop – er no, not for me…not even for the pretty packaging!

  6. I want them all! I think the purple looks wearable and I’m curious about the green. Also, I’m easily seduced by pretty packaging and which girl could resist such gems!

  7. I would love to try the purple, have to passed on the green one! I think Amethyst would look nice for doing Ombre lips with a pink lippie!

  8. Oh wow beautiful xx

Oh wow, those look awesome! I already have a couple of “weird” colours in my collection from companies like illamasqua & lime crime, so those wouldn’t look too out of place on me! 🙂
