John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight

I went to a launch last week that presented three new John Frieda products – one is a blonding/lightening treatment that lifts blonde hair and hopefully staves off a visit to the colourist for just a little bit longer. The next is a volumising spray – I looked on in horror as the stylist deposited the best part of a can into the model’s hair and yanked her tresses into some kind of tumbly do – it really didn’t seem ‘that’ effective and if you need a whole can – or the best part of – your budget might tell you that it’s a special occasion only item. I think I was expecting something a whole lot more spectacular than a very mild amount more body – I was expecting big – huge – gargantuan hair. It didn’t happen. But, the product that I’ve tried and tested and ADORE is the 3 Day Straight. I’ll kick off with the niggle first – on the packet it says that it’s a semi-permanent styling treatment. I’d argue that 3 days can’t be described as even vaguely permanent – in fact the opposite, it’s temporary. However, when I applied the spray (about 10 spritzes) before drying it was light and pleasant smelling, and majorly importantly for me, my hair didn’t actually feel as though it had any product in it at all. I should add in at this stage that instead of the usual Moroccan Oil I used Geilly Green’s Argan Rescue (amazing) and put the spray on after that. While I was drying I didn’t notice my hair behaving any differently, but actually the real magic happens when you run the straighteners through. And, even then you probably won’t notice a huge difference. It was the following morning, when I was just feeling a bit unimpressed to find a curl peeking out from my fringe, when I quickly reactivated the 3-Day by running irons through, that it just all fell back into place perfectly. And it has stayed that way. I’m at the very end of day 2 and my hair looks immaculate. It’s heat activated polymer technology that’s at the heart and very impressive it is too. This is definitely going on my must-have list. It will cost £6.99 and is available now.

Ooh I really want to try this but I’ve had a look on the Boots website and it isn’t there 🙁

This might sound stupid as “straight” is in the name…but do you think it’d have a similar effect if you curl your hair seeing as it’s activated by heat?

  4. I don’t really see the point of this. When you said it was called 3day straight I was expecting at straigjhtening effect that lasted 3days. I don’t want to have to keep using the straightners every day to get it to work, kind of defeats the object for me.

I’d like to know if this would still work if you wash your hair every day or is it 3 days without washing? I think it would be the latter.

forgive me but I am a bit confused. did you ahve to use straighteners for every day of the three days? Surely then it would be the straighteners doing the work as oppose to the product?
I thought it would last for 3 days without the need for heat…*ponders some more*

  8. OK, I think maybe I didn’t explain it properly..no, it didn’t last the three days without running straighteners thru again but it has been very very damp. When I did do a quick restraighten it wasn’t the usual careful time-consuming thing – literally just ran them through and was straight again – straighter than I would normally be if just straightening – if you see what I mean! Am on day 3 now and still impressed and haven’t needed to do a restraighten today at all. I think in summer conditions I probably wouldn’t need to do the second ironing at all. Honestly, I really like this product and think it does work.

As someone who has to completely restraighten my naturally wavy hair every day, I really like the sound of this product!
I am considering getting a brazilian blowdry and I imagine this is a sort of mini version 🙂

I have just purchased this product in boots, my hair is very fuzzy, bordering on afro! I have had the 12 week blow dry done on two occasions and can confirm that this treatment is almost as good! I have received numerous comments in work this morning about how good my hair looks, and this is just my first day of using the product. Boots had a deal on, 3 items for the price of 2! It cost 9.99 Euro a bottle, but managed to pick up 3 bottles for less than 20 Euro 🙂 Highly recommended.
