I went along to the Givenchy launch today for their summer collection – somewhat bizarre to be looking at such hot and vibrant colours while tiny flakes of snow were falling from the sky, but it was a welcome burst of neon on a bitterly cold day. Nicolas Degennes, the Artistic Director of Givenchy Le Makeup is one of those make up artists who actually gets off his butt to do a proper demonstration in person for new collections. He is a busy bee and an incredibly talented make up creator too. There are two stand-outs from the collection – first, Le Prisimissine Eyes Limited Edition in Acid Lights featuring nine shades of beautiful brights. I swatched them all and can’t find one I don’t like although I’m not sure I could actually wear the yellow, it doesn’t mean I don’t want to. And the packaging – it looks like some kind of extra luxe liquorice allsort! The second stand out is Mister Radiant Made-to-Measure Glow. I got really quite excited by this clear, high water-content gel infused with microbeads of light yellow and brown that contain pigments and illuminators that when blended together give a beautiful, naturally tanned look. You can intensify with two or three applications and it still feels feather light on the skin.
