#AD L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Make Up

L’Oreal Age Perfect Make Up

On the one hand, I’m a big believer that you can make cosmetics work at any age in any colour, combination or texture that you please. On the other hand, older skin can behave unexpectedly (as well as predictably) making natural radiance and glow a little harder to achieve.

In the same way that we modify textures to suit our skin, such as adding some extra serum or moisturiser into foundations and concealers for a smoother, more hydrating finishes or ensuring lips are well conditioned before putting on lipstick, L’Oreal Paris has built those in to Age Perfect formulations. They’ve made the make-up range we’d probably make for ourselves. Personally, I’d strip out any of the ‘anti-ageing’ references in favour of a more innovative terminology – you can do it L’Oreal – but that aside, it’s a bold and brilliant move from the brand.

So, starting with the products that L’Oreal Paris already excels at – Foundation (£12.99) and Mascara (I have a video on my Facebook channel HERE if you missed it live showing how it applies). I have said for almost ever that L’Oreal makes the best liquid foundations (I’m a regular Lumi Magique and True Match user) and the Age Perfect versions live up to expectations. What’s different about Age Perfect Foundation is that it’s light feeling, medium coverage giving with optical skin softeners that give a blur element. It’s also non-drying but can prevent oiliness, comes in 13 shades – to start with – and the formula contains ProXylane to prevent moisture loss. I think that’s pretty damn good, as is the Skin Brightening BB Cream, packed with pearl elements for radiance and light reflection. It’s an easy everyday wear with skin brightening actives.

The mascara (£11.99) and the foundation are my personal wow products. With the black shade (there is a brown) mascara, I got lovely, long and thick lashes – the difference here is that this formula has conditions to ensure less lash damage or breakage, and is perfectly fine to use on sensitive or dry eyes. I can’t leave out the Rouge Lumiere Lipsticks, £7.99 HERE) – some beautifully bold colours there with an inner core to add extra moisture and goodness, it stays put!

Many women over 50 don’t feel that brands know how to talk to them – or even want to talk to them. There is only a handful of older social media content creators in this age group and we wear our age with pride. We want older women to feel welcome and wanted in the beauty world, that their beauty is as valid and valued as any other age group. What I’d say with L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Make Up is that all the basics are there such as brow pencils complete with brush, non-feather lip liners and super fine powder blush (£7.99) that doesn’t dry on the skin – thoughtfully and carefully made – with a dash of super sassy red lipstick for when your inner vamp is calling. It’s a collection that feels like it knows who we are.  You can find the collection at Boots HERE. The collection is currently on a 3 for 2.

L’Oreal used to do a lipstick with an inner moisturising core just like this, and I absolutely loved it, I couldn’t understand why they stopped doing it, so I’m really glad they’ve brought it (or something very similar) back. I don’t remember it being specifically targeted towards an older audience previously, but it does make sense.

You’re right Cath! It was a super pampering formula. I am pleased too especially for winter when my lips hit peak parched-ness x

I’ve tried a few things from this range. The foundation is, indeed, amazing for a drugstore brand, and the concealer is also very good. The one item I’ve been using on the daily, is the brow pencil. It’s up there with Laura Mercier’s brow pencil as being my all-time fave.

Will you be doing swatches of the products (or did I miss that post?!)? Thanks, Emma x

I haven’t done so yet – there are a lot of them! I will try and get to it x
