#AD Clinique 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer: Golden Tones

Clinique Beyond Flawless Foundation Concealer

Although Clinique’s 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer already comes in 21 shades, back at the Clinique labs, formulators have been tweaking away adding in 7 golden tone shades for yellow/golden undertones. Exact match foundation is the holy grail for beauty lovers and, like other categories, yellow undertones are underserved in the arena.

If you add oily skin issues in to searching for the perfect colour base, you can have a real problem and yet, oily skin is common as are yellow undertones. So, good – we’re a step closer to encompassing all tones and all skin types when it comes to perfect coverage.

Clinique’s 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer is as it says – foundation and concealer in one. Apply your base, then touch over areas that need a little more: it’s just that simple! The formula absorbs excess oil in areas that are over oily, but adds more moisture to dry patches. I know – it is clever, right? In texture, it feels ‘glidey’ and smooth: I always apply foundation with an oval brush but Clinique has their own Buff Brush designed to diffuse and give an even spread of product. Try it first with whatever base brush you have at home though to see if you like the finish. Speaking of finish, Clinique’s 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer is matte without the dry – softly velvety skin is what you can expect.

Swatches above are from bottom to top: Honey Wheat, Ecru, Tea, Oat, Toasted Wheat and Sesame.

Because tones are so hard to match, you can pop into any Clinique Counter (UK) and get a 10 day free sample of the new shades of Clinique’s 2-in-1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer (or, in fact, ANY Clinique foundation that you want to try). That way, you don’t have to make an on-the-spot decision but can take your shade home and try it in all lights and situations. I would definitely advise doing this – my tone changes throughout the year and I’m always surprised at how different a base can look when I apply it in my mirror at home and then get outside and immediately feel something’s wrong! And, don’t forget, skin is made of many colours and tones but you’re looking for the dominant tone when it comes to base. The concealer aspect of this particular foundation is for the other tones – maybe a bit of pink around the nose or blue under the eyes.  I have some fool-proof go-to’s but in the depths of winter I am so much more pale and sallow than in the summer that I do need to make adjustments sometimes. So, DO go and pick up a sample – it’s the easiest and most effective way to get the best result for you, golden toned or otherwise. #AD #BeyondPerfecting.
