The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Face Mist SPF30

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Face Mist SPF30

[productsample] So, if you remember a couple of years ago the influx of water-feel SPF mists from brands like Bioderma and L’Oreal – this is The Body Shop version on its way into stores soon. What’s different is that it’s not in an aerosol format which is why it looks small, but I’m fairly certain you’re getting the same amount or more than the cannisters. I understand all the reasons why aerosols aren’t good for the environment, but if you get a non-aerosol mist that doesn’t have the best possible componentry, you end up with a thoroughly wet face rather than the finely misted one you were hoping for.

I’m pleased to report that it’s a GOOOOOD mister! The spritz is fine enough for coverage without drenchage. Remember though that while these water SPFs are great for incidental sun; they’re no good as sunscreen on the beach when you’re baking for hours. Instead, consider them a great addition to your work bag or running kit if you need to top up on the go. Other than being able to tell you it has marula oil in it, it’s so new I don’t have any other info, but think Body Shop products are always worth a sneaky peek.

  1. This sounds like such a good product! It’s good to hear that the mister doesn’t drench you but works well.

The INCI is available on The Body Shop website, and is based on problematic sunscreens:

“All Ingredients: Alcohol Denat., Homosalate, Octocrylene, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Diisopropyl Adipate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Parfum/ Fragrance, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Aqua/Water/ Eau,Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil/Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Linalool, Palmaria Palmata Extract, BHT, Limonene, Citronellol, Geraniol.”

Thank you so much for this … I had just assumed it hadn’t launched yet so didn’t even look.. how embarrassing. I don’t think we have the perfect solution to sunscreen yet – it’s all quite problematic one way or another.

Oh goodness, that wasn’t my intention! I just thought: yay! a possible sunscreen I can tolerate (loathe creams) and then found it wasn’t the stable sort of SPF ingredients.
Love your writing and your approach

  3. I’m a body shop at home consultant and got to try this for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

It smells lovely and if you already use the skin defence it has a similar smell to this!

Great for your handbag to top up during the day

Bit disappointed by the low PA rating – I really want four stars or above! Korea manages it….relatedly I wish sunscreen cushions and refills were a thing here, so handy. I know you can buy cushions you can fill yourself though on Yesstyle.
