Someone was always going to get a snow-day photo! It’s too pretty not to get the camera out and a quick reminder of Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Balm seems very appropriate given that it’s a super nourishing and soothing skin balm perfect for winter stricken dry skin. My skin, having been in near-perfect condition (thanks to a very expensive Shiseido combination) has gone into free fall since I started using other products. Actually, I want to go back to it but if I do, it pretty much rules out any other thorough skin care reviews going forward so I’m in a dilemma. A combination of suddenly depriving my skin of ingredients it’s been loving and these really cold temperatures given a extra blade with horrible winds that blow across the heath where I walk my dog, plus heating up higher than normal… all the usual suspects and my face actually hurt yesterday.
You can use this as a cleanser, which I wouldn’t recommend unless you have properly dry skin in which case your sore face will thank you. It’s got a high level of rosehip seed oil which is rich in ProVitamin A (source of retinol) and so the oily nature of it means that your skin, while clean, is left with some residue. For a dry face that formula gives delightful flexibility and comfort, but if you like a ‘squeaky’ finish, you won’t get that with this even using the included muslin cloth (that gives your skin a mild exfoliation as you remove). However, anything dry – legs, arms, elbows, cuticles – is equally served with a rose scented salve-like moisturiser. It also makes a great overnight mask – the melty balm leaves your skin bouncy and hydrated while you sleep. I really wish there were different sizes to this product – £40 is fine for something you’re going to use regularly or daily, but for me it’s an occasional rescue product so I want a £20 pot. It’s 99% organic, if that helps! I’ve found it at FeelUnique which at least has free postage HERE.
Oh, I should say that it contains essential oils – patchouli and geranium, which gives it a ‘spa’ like scent but if you don’t like essential oils, it’s not for you.
