[unpaid/sample] I’m a little bit undecided about this new lip balm from Emma Hardie. As a huge fan of the Emma Hardie cleansing balm, my expectation was that the lip balm would be a similarly textured, big dollop of instantly nourishing lip protector, and it’s not.
In fact, this balm is more thin and glossy than anticipated – which is nice – I love the glossy aspect – with a bit of a kick of mint that leaves a vaguely waxy taste in the mouth. It contains Volulip, a plant extract from the purslane family, that helps to give some plumpness (it didn’t work for me but nothing ever does on my bullet proof lips), along with cocoa butter, shea butter, vitamin E and moringa.
Top ingredient on the listing is Olus oil (a vegetable oil) with poor old Moringa, a staple of this brand, trailing eighth. I mean, I see, economically, why that might be but Moringa was where the Emma Hardie brand started and it would be a shame to lose it to more commercially easy options. If what you would like is a gloss alternative that’s more nourishing than actual gloss, it’s for you. If you want a viscous balm that gives that nurture-comfort feel, it isn’t. There’s nothing wrong with this balm but I associate Emma Hardie with top end nourishment – an immediate hit of extra quality comfort and this hasn’t hit that brief. It’s £14 HERE.
