ELEMIS BIOTEC #AD

Remember a few years ago, there was a big media splash about ‘wine face’? Too many cheeky glasses playing havoc with your skin. Now, it’s all about ‘tired face’ and I think we can all relate to that one! I’ve lost count of the number of times, when asked how I am, I answer, ‘exhausted’. I’m trying not to do it any more in the hopes that saying ‘great’, or something similar might up the energy levels, mentally if not physically. But, it’s such a familiar state of being – for one reason or another, we’re all tired; I don’t think I know anyone who isn’t!

It’s not such a stretch to connect the dots that if you feel physically tired, your skin reacts in a ‘tired’ way, not just in a ‘you look tired’ way but at a deeper level. According to ELEMIS research, your cells are just as knackered as you feel, and show it by poor cell function. What that means in visible terms is lacklustre skin that can’t get its glow on.

BIOTEC is the brand’s biggest launch of the year, claiming to boost cell energy by up to 27% using a combination of encapsulated zinc and copper combined with acids and amber (which I cannot remember seeing in skin care before).

As you can see, Biotec Skin Energising Day Cream and Night Cream are dual complex. The first chamber contains Succinic Acid, Lactic Acid and Ferulic Acid (with electrolytes and hydrators) to get cells turning over and shifting old ones away quickly, while in the second chamber is encapsulated zinc and copper. I wondered why the product had two be separated and it turns out that Phase 2 (green) containing the Bio-Energy Complex needs to be kept in a water phase, separate to the white cream Phase 1 in order to preserve its activity until it reaches the skin. The work that zinc and copper do, in this form, is only activated on skin contact.

The Biotec options are day, night and cleanser – Biotec Skin Energising Cleanser taps right into the trend for acid based, skin invigorating cleansing (using Succinic Acid, Lactic Acid and Ferulic Acid) and washes off to leave your complexion ready for your day or night cream.

Expecting our energy levels to see us through every day in tip top form isn’t realistic in today’s frenetic world. I’m personally a big believer in rest – I know, old fashioned, but a little power nap never hurt anyone! It’s also so important to have the right fuel, so if you’re feeling constantly tired, take a look at your diet (my smoothie maker has been a godsend). It’s also worth being strict about having a couple of early nights every week where you don’t burn the midnight oil. Recharging your skin and body can give you a whole new attitude towards being kind to yourself and making to time simply stop for a while.

BIOTEC Skin Energising Day Cream is £75 HERE, and BIOTEC Skin Energising Night Cream is £85 HERE. BIOTEC Skin Energising Cleanser is £39.50 HERE. Further reading on the science is HERE.

sounds lovely, but day and night cream £20 too expensive in my opinion for a brand like Elemis.

  2. I love Elemis, its been too long since I’ve tried any of their products, but this definitely raises my interest!

I spotted this a few weeks back at my local Elemis counter. Chatted to the SA about it and got some interesting info. Seems there is a new facial designed to work with these products, it uses different colour lights from a special machine. So I actually got the idea you are suppose to go for the facial treatments and then use the new range in between to keep the effects? I know I cannot use the cleanser lactic acid is not my friend, I did wash my hands with it in the treatment room, they felt dry afterwards and made me grab my handcream pretty quickly.
