Clarins Face Scrubs

[productsamples/affiliate] These new face scrubs from Clarins feel very considerately thought through. There’s really scope for you to think about exactly what it is you want from an exfoliator rather than just shoving it on your face and hoping for the best. Perhaps the end result doesn’t alter but these are as much about the sensory experience as the finish.

Clarins Face Scrubs

Maybe I’ve just forgotten but I don’t remember using an oil scrub before. This comes out of the tube like a granular honey in texture and rinses away with water like a milk. I think I prefer this above the others although the initial ‘sticky’ feel might be off-putting for some. It smells like fresh caramel and is indicated for dry and sensitive skin – to me it feels like a comforting winter product and it certainly didn’t leave my skin dry in any way. You can also use this one as a lip scrub.

Clarins Face Scrubs

The gel textured Pure Scrub is indicated for skin that is oil and blemish prone, containing lava beads (all the beads are natural and not micro-plastic) to dislodge dead cells. It has a very clean smell – not medicinal exactly, just very fresh – and the lava exfolators are very gentle so you’ll need to spend some time being thorough. Once you add water the gel transforms into a foam which (apparently) enhances the rinse experience. It will take down shine and so it’s a perfect pre-foundation product if you feel an oily day ahead.

Clarins Face Scrubs

Using wood cellulose as the larger beads in the formula, this scrub is the most grainy feeling – it’s also a fresh feeling formula that makes your face feel energised and awake so perhaps the best choice if you’re a morning scrubber! It’s indicated for thirsty skin .. it’s the one to choose if you want a general, effective exfoliator but don’t have very dry or very oily skin.

All three of the scrubs do what they say they will – I love that Clarins still use the word ‘scrub’ but have modified the formulas so that they’re far more gentle than the name implies. I mean, the days of apricot shells all over your face have well and truly gone. You’ll find no micro-tears with these skin smoothers. They’re £26 each HERE, non affiliate HERE. I’m directing you to the Clarins website for this – they have a spectacular offer for a £50 spend – stock up on the on-line exclusive fruity body lotions and shower gels (Wonder Fig or Tonic Citrus) for presents or treats to self that gives you 9 free samples and a beautiful wash bag using code NINE.

Hurrah. I’ve said this before but… up with physical exfoliation! Glycolic makes me look like a Swan Vesta and salicylic seems to do absolutely nothing!

I know what you mean. I do get along with acids, but I feel as if I need to use a physical scrub to take off the dead skin they have dislodged. It’s so satisfying.

I was just looking for a face scrub that isn’t harsh. I will give the Comfort Scrub a try. Thanks for posting about these new Clarins scrubs.

  3. This sounds excellent. My skin is in great shape thanks to all the new serums and creams, but I find I still need a good scrub now and then. And kudos to Clarins for ditching the microplastics and choosing scrub ingredients from nature.
