[unpaid/purchase/affiliate] Mermaid skin is a trend that is really all about an iridescent glow. It’s not new – it had its moment in about 2017 – but while it sounds like something you probably don’t want to go anywhere near if you aren’t a fan of hyper-glow, in this instance, Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel has treated the trend with ultimate subtilty so it’s soft finish look for everyone.
The formula is a cream-gel so it works into the skin beautifully and easily, and uses UV filters (Tinosorb S, Uvinal A Plus – trade names for protectors against UVA and UVB both long and short) and mineral filters (Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide). I’ve found it really quite moisturising although I’ve yet to try it with a foundation or tinted moisturiser on top. As with the Paul & Joe sun care featured yesterday, it can be used on face or body but I’ve only used it on my face.
If you wanted to ‘mermaid’ up your regular facial SPF, there’s nothing to stop you adding a tiny dash of iridescent pigment to it – I’d advise against using something like Strobe cream because you’ll run the risk of reducing the efficacy of the SPF. Although, thinking about it, a perfect description for this skin gel is SPF Strobe.
I found that the glow level reduced as time went on during the day but there was definitely still an enhanced light catch – I re-tested it yesterday on one half of my face and I could see a soft difference. I bought mine from Yes Style HERE for £15.08, non-affiliate HERE. Do search around though on Google because there are a couple of UK sites selling it too. It’s so much less expensive than the ‘luxury’ SPFs around and yet I can’t fault it or see a reason why you wouldn’t save your pennies on this level of quality.
