Bakel Tan Accelerator

Bakel Tan Accelerator

I’m off on a short sunshine break on Friday (I’ve left a few posts on schedule so the blog won’t be bare) and it’s not a moment too soon, to be honest. I prefer to take short breaks rather than long holidays a) because I don’t like leaving Honey for too long, and b) because it’s impossible to get enough content to cover anything more than a few days for the site. That’s not a complaint – it’s just my now reality. But, it does mean that taking my time over a tan is not an option. Luckily, these days, I’m not fixated on getting a tan at all costs – a light caramel will do me absolutely fine or even just more of a bonne mine look. I do pick up the sun quite easily and have used tan accelerators in the past as well as a skin supplement, both of which prep the melanin in skin to be more ready to ‘protect’ from the sun.

It’s not up to me to suggest how anyone should tan – we all know the risks of the sun, but while I don’t bake and am very careful in the sun, I do still relish lying on a lounger feeling the heat on my skin. Bakel formulas in general are good – I don’t like the ‘healthy tan’ messaging on the bottle because tanning carries a risk whichever way you look at it, particularly for certain skin types. However, the premise of Bakel Tan Accelerator is that if used under SPF it will add skin conditioning and anti-oxidant protection. Or, you can just use it as I am, as a skin prep before going in the sun. It uses Mauritia Flexuosa, a type of palm tree, as well as Beta Carotene to activate and enhance a tan alongside a multitude of other ingredients including Emblica fruit extract (a type of gooseberry) to give antioxidant protection.

I guess I’m only going to know if it’s worked post-holiday, but the side benefit of using a tan accelerator before you go is that you are in twice daily body moisturising regime that will, if nothing else, give you smooth and nourished skin. Bakel Tan Accelerator is a bit hefty on the price at £53 but in many ways it’s ideal for someone like me who needs to make the most of a limited time in the sun without feeling like I have to lie out from dawn til dusk. Bakel Tan Accelerator is part of the Bakel sun care line that’s launching at SpaceNK any day now.

  1. Have a lovely time!

You could spare yourself the trouble and expense by adopting the Japanese/Korean attitude: pale is perfect! When Koreans go to the beach in the Philippines, they wear light cotton tops to cover their arms even when they’re splashing around in the water. Of course if you did this in Ibiza, people would think you’d gone mad, but who knows? Maybe you’d start a new trend.

For me a tan, any tan at all, equals sun damage and a potential skin cancer risk. I adore the beach, but I am completely covered up when I visit. That being said, I do hope you have a nice holiday.

Thank you..that’s really kind of you. I know, these days knowing what we know about sun and skin it’s a hard call to make but I do keep it to a minimum. x
