Zara Foundation Review

[unpaid/sample] The long awaited foundation from high street fashion store, Zara, has finally arrived. It’s a matte finish but obviously I’m hoping for a glow version very soon. With 51 shades and a very decent on-line shade finder service Zara has managed to do exactly what they do with their fashion – make something beautiful but not charge an arm and leg for it.

Zara Foundation Review

It’s funny how both Zara and Byredo are doing these tilted products – a bit of me appreciates it and a bit of me wants it to stand the heck straight! The foundation itself is very lightweight on the skin – the pigment is high so however much you normally put on of your usual base, halve it because you can always come back and add more. I did a first impression video on Instagram HERE and I used too much which made it a bit mask like but I’ve since tried it again with less than half of what I tried to put on at the first go and it’s much better. This shade, W916, is not right for my tone but useful in terms of texture and first impressions.

As you know, I’m not a matte fan but I can’t say I found this particularly drying – it’s really a lovely, cooling texture on the complexion although the coverage (even with less) is surprisingly full. In terms of sinking into pores and lines – yes, a little, because all mattes do in my experience because of the higher powder content, although if you prime well you can prevent that. The last was very good – I used it in the late afternoon when I wasn’t going anywhere (because it’s not the right colour) and took it off at about 11pm and there was plenty left.

This is, as mentioned, shade W916 and you can see that it’s full coverage. However, testing it in dappled light, it doesn’t kill all the skin glow and isn’t a ‘flattening’ matte but more of a soft-focus effect. It’s one up in terms of matte from a natural skin finish. You can find Zara Limitless Foundation HERE.

Lots of beautiful tints around – I like Sculpted By Aimee skin tint at the moment.
