Yves Saint Laurent Vernis A Levres Amplifier Primary Colour Edition

Yves Saint Laurent Vernis A Levres Amplifier Primary Colour Edition

Ooh, so where did these spring from? If you’re feeling adventurous, these colour amplifiers are a great way to boost your existing shades. Bottom line is that they’re lip primers, although you can wear alone if you want to, designed to change the shade of your lipstick or gloss.

The shades come in magenta, blue and yellow.

To use, you add a small slick to the lips: don’t put too much on because they take a little while to dry and they’re also very stainy. Once the formula has dried, add over any gloss or lipstick you like for a complete shade switch up. The colours are more dramatic than I was expecting – I’ve done a swatch but it behaves differently on the arm to on the lips with a better colour union than you can see on my arm. I used a Chantecaille lipstick over all three colours – you can see the original and how it’s completely different depending upon the base.

So, the original Chantecaille shade is first, followed by the effect over YSL Yellow, Blue and Magenta. If you like a really vampy, raspberry-blue lip, Blue is the most impactful – I was really surprised at the strength of the colour change – if you a put a red over this you are the most glamorous vampiress in the whole world.
