I love a coloured mascara and have tried many, many versions, so happy to say these double ended newbies are coming up as pretty damn good. One of the problems with coloured mascaras is the lack of pigment – a wishy-washy pink lash look is terrible, but a full on, neon pink lash is another thing altogether. I’m not saying I’d got to Tesco with a green lash, and I do tend to use at the tips of my lashes only since I’m not at all keen for a ‘festival look’ (that’s just made me sound old, I know!), but make up is supposed to be fun and this is one of the ways that you can be less serious. I do currently have one eye piled with neon pink mascara topped with gold so the postman has some excitement.
The gold/silver effect mascara is the best one in terms of impact – I’d just get this anyway because either end is gorgeous over black or brown. It’s a different thing over bare lashes – very spacey.
All of the mascaras are plenty pigmented and supposed to have a different finish on either end (one metallic, one not) but aside from Dime/Goldmine (above), there’s not a huge difference between the colour and the ‘special effect’. Nonetheless, you will definitely get a vivid lash (or brow) look.
In the swatch from bottom to top: Goldmine/Dime, Junkshow, Vice and Deepend. There’s a blue shade as well, but I don’t have it to show you. They’re all £19.50 each HERE.
