The Beauty Boosters from Trish McEvoy have been sitting on my pile of products to review for a while now – I wish I’d got to them a bit sooner because they’re really impressive. Products that profess to work for both lip and cheek usually work better on one than the other, but this product is the exception in that it does a great job for both. You could say that almost every lipstick can double as a blush (oval brushes have made diffusion on the skin so much better) and it’s worth bearing in mind that just because it doesn’t say you can do it on the label doesn’t mean you can’t!
On the lips, they give a strongly pigmented light sheen effect, and on the cheeks they lose the sheen as the formula is blended down. It definitely works for both.
Shades are: Rose, Plum and Raspberry and they’re £24 HERE – Selfridges haven’t clearly indicated which shade is which and there are only two colours in stock which is frustrating but I can understand why they’re selling out.
At the same time, if you’re in the mood for highlighter or bronzing, the Fast Track Face Sticks are also worth a second look – beautifully glidey, not outrageously glittery and blend gorgeously.
I rarely use bronzers as anything other than ‘blush’ but I’ve been using this one for a slightly more ‘lit’ look that’s a million miles away from tin man instagram faces. These are also not in stock (argh!) but I will keep an eye out for more stock and flag them up.
If you don’t have an oval brush yet, I use a variety, ranging from Primark and Make Up Revolution to top of the range Artis. While I love my Artis brushes, they are so expensive that I’d recommend using a cheaper alternative to see if you like them – Make Up Revolution brushes are £20 for three sizes which is a good starting point (HERE). They’re all I use now and the difference in ease of blending for foundation, concealer, blush, bronze and highlighter is phenomenal although I have never got to grips with the oval eye brushes.
