Rohto Lip Fondue

[purchase] A further purchase from Chinatown – this time a bit more readily available. It’s the Rohto Lip Fondue – one of the most lovely stick balms I’ve ever had. I’ve noticed that the trend is much more for a sheer but sheeny lip finish and if you’re feeling adventurous, a gradient lip.

Rohto Lip Fondue

This is Scarlet Pink which is a very particular – and I must say a very Korean – translucent rosebud pink that’s a suit-all with exactly the right amount of juice and shine. If you wanted to have a go at a gradient lip, apply a darker shade of pink on the inner rims of your lips, upper and lower, and then add the shine and the lesser shade (i.e. the balm above) over the whole thing.

In the centre I’ve added a deep pink shade – use a brush, it just makes everything easier….

And then this is with the Lip Fondue over the top – it’s subtle (supposed to be) and this balm brings all the light to the lips. It’s a very comfortable wear and doesn’t have any flavour or scent to it (that I can tell). You can find the Lip Fondue on Stylevana (standard shipping is £3.99 – expect it to take a couple of weeks) for £6.39 HERE. There are three shades available and I’m thinking strongly to get all three – one is a paler pink, one is coral and then the one I have, scarlet pink. Big recommend if you like a subtle lip that’s more fun than most. The shop where I bought it has a website HERE but the Lip Fondues are more expensive than on Stylevana although they do have plenty of other options if you like that look.

Looks and sounds lovely! (Good stocking filler as well 😉 ) I lately tried Stylevana and was positively surprised by the prices and the fact they keep their word on protecting us Europeans from the terrible taxes (before ordering I wrote to their helpdesk checking on that and they reassured me they’ll try to send all from their EU storehouse or refund any extra costs if needed). Prices are unrivaled and delivery was rather fast (collecting and preparing to dispatch order though took them the whole week).

that’s a great review – I’ll be using them more, that’s for sure.

Rohto has excellent inexpensive face moisturizers that aren’t heavy, marketed under many brands, including Hada Labo. I buy their products in Japanese drugstores.

Rohto is a huge Japanese pharmaceutical company which makes just about everything.

If you go back to Chinatown, see if you can find the 50 Blessings brand of face serums, moisturizing gel/creams. Really good for dry skin.

I love lip fondue! I always stock up when I’m in Japan as there’s lots of shades there. Looking forward to going back in January. Your previous posts on Japanese beauty were really useful to know what to look out for 🙂

      That’s good to know :-))
