Milk Make Up Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30 sunscreen

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] So, I have two new items from Milk, a brand that I really like for its use of sticks (I’m a big fan of their blush and bronzer sticks). I’ve seen a lot of buzz on line already for the Sunshine Skin Tint SPF30, and nothing yet for the Pigment Chalk. It turns out that this particular item hasn’t yet launched here.

Milk Make Up Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30 sunscreen

Perhaps the most notable thing about the Sunshine Skin Tint is the deliver method – a rollerball. For me, this didn’t really work because you still need to blend so you may as well have just directly applied it with fingertips or a brush – I mean, you wouldn’t squeeze your SPF or your base directly onto your face – you’d put it straight into your hands. But, I like the innovation of it – it isn’t something I’ve seen before for a base so it will be interesting to see if stays in that packaging. The formula itself gives nicely even coverage – it’s not a sheer feeling tint by any means, and gives a semi-matte finish … my feeling is that it is more SPF than it is tint so will suit those looking for only just a touch of tint. I think it’s expensive at £39 HERE, non-affiliate HERE.

Milk Make Up Colour Chalk

I’ve also got mixed feelings about the Milk Make Up Colour Chalk – they’re extruded pigment powders in stick form. Extruded powders are made by pushing the pigment powders through fine holes in a screen – I’ve seen the process compared to making macaroni or spaghetti. While I’m very much for being hands on with pigment and colours because so much of beauty is about texture and touch, the pigments are so soft, even in stick form, that it becomes messy very quickly. You also need a very light touch otherwise it crumbles. I’ve noticed on the US site these have 25% off already so I don’t know how successful they have been. In theory, amazing – think festival type beauty with rainbow metallic warrior stripes and can be used on eyes and lips (a couple of colours can’t be used on lips) or multi-functional low (recyclable) packaging, but in practice, maybe not so much. You could always take an eye brush across the surface but that negates the point of a stick. They’re $18.

The shade I have in Sunshine Tint is Light Medium, and the chalk is Hoola Hoop.

I was curious to try the Sunshine Skin Tint but it’s £39 for…16ml…. that’s extraordinary (£78 for 32ml)! Even the refill is £29…filed under ‘no way jose’.

I think it’s a lot for what you get.

  2. I feel like Milk have been kind of hit and miss for me, but I might have to give them another try!
