MAC x Patrick Starrr

MAC x Patrick Starr

Of all the big US ‘guru’ type influencers, Patrick Starrr is the one that is universally well regarded. There’s a clique whose lives are continual drama, and when there’s a gap in the drama they make more. It’s literally the least interesting thing you’ve ever come across. Patrick manages to steer outside of it all for the most part and he’s an outstanding make up artist, too. He started out as a photographer before becoming a freelance make up artist. Then Youtube happened and the rest is history.

This collection is the second of five that Patrick has signed for with MAC and that’s unusual in itself. Also, unusually, the products are sold as sets – this one is Full Face Kit #1 Me So Fleek. The other one is called Me So Chic.

The palette is Play With Me – the rose gold shade, In Living Pink in the top left corner is stunning, followed by All’s Rosy, In The Shadows (blue) and Hickie while the blush is called Take Me Home. The shades in Take Me Home are Mocha Rev and Stubborn Rev.

The lipstick is Hey Boy Hey and a really difficult to find colour in kind of dirty raspberry plum (matte). Safer territory is the Lipglass in Queen P with a pink neon base and blue pearl. Oh, wait.. did I say that was safer! So, there are elements of this collection that I love – I couldn’t wear everything together though – it’s just too big a look for me personally. The blush is every kind of useful and I’d wear three out of the four eye shadow shades but I don’t think the lipstick or the gloss is for me…. but you never know!

The MAC x Patrick Starrr collection launches on 19th April.

That lipstick would sing on black women though.

One of MAC’s strengths is their ability to make colours for all tones – and lipstick is a very individual choice.
