[productsample] If ever there is testament to the power of lipstick, it’s this. It’s the 25th anniversary of MAC’s Viva Glam campaign that’s raised over $500,000,000 in that time – yes, you read that right.

A few stats: One Viva Glam lipstick buys 254 condoms to prevent HIV transmission. The full RRP (less VAT) is donated to organisations that support the health and rights of people of all ages, races and genders. One Viva Glam lipstick tests 14 pregnant mothers for HIV to support women’s health. One Viva Glam purchases a full day of meals for 2 homeless LGBTQ+ youths.

It’s a lot really isn’t it? And, £17.50 doesn’t seem a stretch when you consider the bigger picture and how much of a part a beauty brand has played in preventing and treating a disease that has had utterly devastating consequences. Although AIDS is no longer sweeping the world unchecked, it still killed 1 million people in 2017. Plus the fact that Viva Glam is an awesome lipstick, this year in a sparkly casing bearing the 25 years logo.
