As part of the MACMakeupArtCosmetics collection (I’ve previously featured Kabuki), make up supremo James Kaliardos has also created a collection. I have a couple of items here and after initially being a bit ‘meh’ about them, it’s just taken the definite feeling of breaking the back of winter to change my mind. I’m particularly taken with this tri-colour Lipglass – Stratogloss Opalite, £18 (MAC totally should name a star!) that looks ombre in the tube, but once out on the wand translates to a gorgous, sheer, very lightly shimmer shot, ballet pink gloss.

One thing is striking about James’s collection – or at least, the pieces I have here – that it’s very wearable. Like, everyday-useful wearable.

If you can fast-forward to warmer, sunnier days, the Moons of Saturn Fully Face Kit (£35) is a handy buy. It cotains a pink/coral (more coral to my eye) cream colour base and a light champagne gold cream colour base (blush and highlight covered off with both) and in the underneath (which is hard to get off.. I wrestled a bit) is a matte mid-tone bronzer/sculpting powder. In fact, I only realised the bronzer was underneath at the last moment, so it’s not included with the swatch.

The collection, along with Kabuki and Diane Kendal, launches this Thursday on www.maccosmetics.co.uk.
