The forthcoming MAC Big Brow Pencil collection is not dissimilar to the Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayons although they’re slightly less chunky. I think we’re so used to seeing brow pencils be fine that it’s a bit of surprise when a bigger version works just fine – depending on how you like your brows. What these aren’t good for is feathering in fine lines or emulating real brow hair strokes. But for adding depth and shade to fuller brows, they’re great.
I’ve had mine for a little while now and find my shade, Coquette, super simple to apply – you really do just draw it gently across the brow and hey presto, darker, more defined brow! There are five shades coming (including Cork for redheads) this month; the lightest is Fling, then Lingering, Coquette, Cork and the darkest is Spiked. Above are Fling, Spiked and Coquette. Like Maybelline, they’re a twist up but slightly firmer to the touch. Really though, they’re much of a muchness and although I’m a big MAC fan at present, the Maybelline Brow Pomade is £5.99 – the MAC Big Brow Pencil is £16 so there’s not much thinking to do on this one! I’ve tried to check the weight to see if you get the same amount – although MAC weight is stated, Maybelline isn’t.
