L’Oreal Melon Dollar Baby Blush

[unpaid/purchase/affiliate/ad] In terms of a ‘can’t go wrong’ blush, Melon Dollar Baby is an easy win. It’s the sort of gentle peachy shade that suits everyone and gives a wakened look to the skin.

Of course I love the watermelon pattern because I love anything that goes the extra mile on detailing but although it’s supposed to have a melon scent but it’s more of a strawberry Chewit than anything. The colour doesn’t extend to a Bobbi style ‘pop’ – it’s more of a light wash than anything so on the one hand it’s quite an unremarkable blush that’s made better by being pretty, it’s also more or less foolproof if understated and low key is the goal.

Honestly, I’m a bit meh about this so in summary, it turns up to work but gives a lacklustre performance. I got mine for £9.49 on Amazon HERE, but it’s available on any high street for about £1 less.

Interesting, the colour looks pretty, like a very soft, not so shimmery Chanel Malice blush. Strawberry chewits takes me back many years 🙂 Kiko have just realised a fruity themed collection of goodies including a super cute pineapple face “brightener” so I guess we will be seeing more fruit makeup from one or two other brands soon.

      Ooh that sounds interesting!

  2. Jane, I’d love a recommendation for a gentle blush that’s high street price, won’t sit into fine lines and will just give a bit of everyday lift? I’m not bothered about packaging or details cos it’ll never leave the bathroom – but formulation is important. Any suggestions? Thanks!

No problem – I’d recommend the e.l.f putty blushes – they’re a creme consistency so are best applied with a fluffy brush but you can use fingertips if yo prefer. If you like powder, L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect is gentle with just a hint of glow. It’s about £6.99 I think and e.l.f is £6. Hope that helps x

  3. Ah thanks very much! I’ll go and check out the e.l.f. blushes. Not keen on powder at this point in life! That’s just the price point i was after too x
