When a brand positions itself as top of the luxury range, you a) need to believe them and b) need to have heard of them. So, Le Metier de Beaute has its work cut out presenting these matte cremes at £40 a pop. £40? I keep thinking there must be some mistake. I’ve been a fan of the range for years – it had presence (in Liberty) in the UK a few years ago but I draw the line here.
I really try not to second guess a beauty lover’s budget – it’s not really any of my business what anyone spends but I just can’t bring myself to say this is a good use of £40 when there is so much decent competition (Chanel, Armani). Yes, pigment is amazing, yes they are long (ish) in the last and I didn’t find them particularly drying but, you know… ouch!
I loved using the Precision Lash Mascara – I got beautifully pitch black lashes with a brush that really does allow you to get to the lash root and the Precision Liquid Liner is a wonderfully dark ink with an applicator that doesn’t make you feel you need a degree in calligraphy to get right. But – they are both £40 each as well. No, no and no. I can just about make sense of Peau Vierge (£117): skin care and a light tint that is like gossamer on the complexion, but a £40 liquid liner, mascara and lip creme, I struggle with.
If you feel you must, the range is HERE.

I don’t remember their prices being this extreme? I’ve never been blown away by what I’ve tried but £40 for a liquid lipstick is crazy! Xx
I love these lip cremes I need to try em!
I liked your honest opinion about the high prices that some brands established for of certain products
I have to say, I really really like your honesty when it comes to pricing. You’re right that all of us has different budgets and approaches. How much we spend and on what is our business. But I very much appreciate when you mention the fact that certain expensive products have no discernible wow ingredients/packaging/USP and certain cheaper high street brands has good price/value even though it’s not exactly the same as some high-end brands. I like that you’re mostly brand agnostic (Chanel aside 😉 Somethings are just lovely treats!) so as a reader, I get a sense of what is worth my money, whether that’s a little or a lot of money. We don’t like spending $50 or £5 on a dud.
I actually bought a few of the eye shadows, the foundation(which is amazing), but the price of the lip matt creme was a big no no for the price. The new NARS Velvet Lip Glides are just as good and half the price. I do really like the Chanel as well, but waited until I had money off to buy.
