Laura Mercier Masterclass Holiday Illuminations Palette

Laura Mercier Masterclass Holiday Illuminations Palette

It’s the more established brands that are really coming up with the goods this year for Christmas. There’s something rather nostalgic about the Laura Mercier Masterclass Holiday Illuminations Palette – it’s what truly covetable beauty Christmas gifts used to be about before the unicorns came along. I can imagine myself – pre-beauty industry days – being utterly blown away by this kit. It reminds me of how I used to feel about make-up before it was more accessible.

The two palette trays (six a piece) part to reveal two blushes and an illuminator, two double ended applicator brushes and a buttery soft black khol plus the awesome tightliner powders. I haven’t used my tightliner powder for ages and ages but this has reminded me to look it out – you never do get such a dramatic and potent water-line as with that product.

The entire thing folds out tidily like this – it’s an absolute joy. It’s absolutely not my job to sell it to you, but if you’re a regular traveller, this could not be simpler to pack away in your carry on. Speaking of selling, it’s very expensive at £94 so I’d suggest holding on til Black Friday just in case any deals come along – if you can’t wait, John Lewis has it HERE. I’m having a bit of a Laura Mercier moment just now – someone asked whether the Shiseido acquisition of the brand has changed the quality and I’d certainly say that the blush I reviewed last week is very similar in composition to Shiseido in terms of sheerness and builability. Don’t mess with the tightliners though Shiseido!

The eye colours are Poison Ivory, Café au Lait, Noir, Vanilla Nuts, Fresco, Stone Taupe, Galaxy, Bronze Glow, Carbon, Etoile, Pebblestone, Minx. The cheek shades are Spiced Cider, Lotus Pink and Pink Haze (highlight) and the Tightliners are Black Ebony and Mahogany Brown.

Laura Mercier does lovely Holiday palettes every year. I fell in love with the Night Lights Eye and Cheek one this year and bought it.

  2. Hi, Jane.
Looks like a bit of pure luxury to me. I can actually see this palette being useful all year round – how many other more gaudy holiday palettes and products must be left to gather dust after January the first, I wonder… This is very expensive yes, but a lovely gift, especially for somebody who is accustomed to nice makeup.

  3. that does look stunning and like an all in one palette. Oh I am ever so tempted
