The Estee Lauder collectables such as the decorative powder compacts or solid perfumes were rarely given as samples – they’d be sent out to publications for photography but would then be returned to the brand – so I’m really not sure how I came to have this splendid little lizard! I don’t remember buying it, that’s for sure.

It turns out that this is rather a sought-after compact – I’ve seen it on dealer sites for upwards of $250 (with box, which I don’t have) and yet, I don’t even have it in my display cabinet – it’s been at the bottom of a box in the basement for years. Don’t worry – it’s never going back in the box!

The inside contains Lucidity translucent pressed powder – just a tiny circle of it, with a tiny puff. It’s very sweet.

My knowledge area is the solid perfume compacts rather than powder – which is whole other sparkly rabbit hole to go down if you’re of a collecting nature 🙂 – so I’m afraid I really don’t know anything much more about it. There are only one or two on resale so I’m guessing it’s rarer than others but it’s a wonderful little treasure to rediscover. It’s a very tactile thing to have in your hand – although it’s very heavily decorated with sparkly stones it’s a bit like holding a rough pebble.

Love this, lucky you. Jane you are doing a good job in lockdown. I’m still working in health care and glad for distraction on days off, thanks.
Well done Olivia and thank you for all that you do 🙂
