Essence What The Fake! Mascara

[sample/affiliate] This is a wonderful product to start the New Year with – £3.49 and behaving better than a mascara at ten times the price.

Essence What The Fake! Mascara

This is exactly the sort of mascara that gets The Daily Mail all excited (perhaps it already has – I haven’t checked) – so much so they dedicate an entire section to it .. “£3 mascara breaking the internet” type thing. The formula contains fibres so if you’re a contact lens wearer or very sensitive, it may not be right for you, but otherwise, at the price it’s absolutely great.

The brush isn’t my favourite type but it’s not too fat – it’s a kind of almond shape that catches the longer hairs and the shorter ones quite effectively. Given that it’s a fibre formula, you might expect it to be thick which it isn’t – but you only need a couple of coats to get a lengthened, darkened, well separated effect. It’s not like a typical false lash mascara which I find often over-coats – the amount is about right. It also didn’t make my lashes feel crispy. Even if you prefer a fancy mascara, I’d take one of these to keep as a spare or a handbag product – I can’t find a single thing wrong with it. Find it HERE, non affiliate HERE.

Hi Jane, how is it for smudging and does it remove fairly easily?

It didn’t smudge on me – there were a few little fibre flakes by the end of the day. Removal was fine – I used a proper eye make up remover though (Elemis).
