I know.. maybe a bit too soon, but I am so happy to see spring products – Christmas has been in this house since July so it’s an exceptionally welcome break! So, Dior Spring 2017 is all about graduations of colour with exciting shade gradiants inspired by the changing colours and light of spring time. Ex-Chanel Peter Philips is at the helm with this collection so it’s exciting to see where he is taking Dior beauty.
At this early stage, I have only a few bits and pieces, but enough, I think to give you the idea of brighter and lighter looks.
As you can see by this vintage Dior ad, Dior loves a blue eye – you can see where Peter Philips is taking his references straight away. This palette is Blue Graduation, but there is a second – Coral Graduation, which is a bit easier to wear.
I have Mono Shade ‘Early’ here, a kind of yellow green and a new Lip Glow in Berry. I think the most exciting pieces are still to come – the Graduated Blushes and the Lip ‘Shadows’ for gradiant lips – still a massive, Asian influenced trend.
For nails, Mallard blue, peach, vibriant pink and that green/yellow colour are all shot with pearl. I can’t wait to see the rest of the collection – much as I love a rouge noir nail and a dark, blackened smoky eye, I also love to see what’s around the corner. Dior’s spring collections are their best, I think, and they’re always early on it (this is released in January I believe), giving our eyes what they’re craving the most – shots of colour.
