Dior Matte Extremes

In amongst the myriad of mattes, Dior’s Extreme collection of four challenging shades, The Extremes, are the ones I am the most interested to see and test. There is a pale grey in there that, while beautiful and elegant on a wall, might be the opposite on a mouth! They’re part of the new formula Dior Rouge line up of 38 colours which all contain a self-adjusting pigment technology to boost the intensity. as well as lipid restoring ingredients, mango butter, hyaluronic acid and a plumping agent.

The shades are: Montaigne Matte (grey), Poison Matte (blackened red), Superstitious Matte (deep burgundy/purple) and Visionary, in darkest blue.

I think what I can safely say is that Montaigne Matte and Visionary aren’t your average lipsticks – less day at the office and more night at the morgue but if you can summon your inner Tilda Swinton, swathe yourself in burgundy velvet and scrub at those lips to get them really smooth, you might be in with a chance that some well meaning stranger won’t try and resuccitate you. It’s a ‘look’. Not for me. However, the others – and, surprisingly Visionary, too – are wearable. I’ll be trying them out on my Facebook Live Channel (see sidebar) but in the swatch above it’s Superstitious Matte, Visionary Matte, Montaigne Matte and Poison Matte.

Dior Matte Extremes are statement makers – mood makers, if you like – and require little other make-up along side them. I have a love-hate relationship with them already but I can see on a sassy day, I might. They’ve hit the stores already for £26.50 each HERE.

  1. That dark blue is just beautiful. I love that Dior is taking some creative risks this fall, with this and also the pastel lipsticks!

  2. The first and last shades could work for me. Not crazy about the other two though – a little to far out for me.

  3. I kinda of love the out there colours but yes not for work lol

  4. YES!!! yes to all of them. not that I’d necessarily wear them all, but i still feel compelled to have them ALL!
