Bearing in mind that I’m just watching sheets of rain fall from the sky from my window, these beauties from the forthcoming (already launched in the US) Clinique and Jonathan Adler Collection is the perfect antidote to the gloom. This brand does pull out some surprises! Jonathan is a US born potter and designer which is a very welcome shake-up from the usual ‘fashion + beauty’ collaborations. There are definitely architectural and interior design influences in this collection, apparent when you know that the inspiration comes from someone more used to throwing a pot or printing glamorous bed linens. Because it’s more or less dark outside (thank you thunder clouds) I’ll swatch when I have decent light to do the products better justice.
There are three Lid Pops – Grape Pop, Willow Pop and Cream Pop (Willow is a gorgeous gold hit khaki), all with the circular design featuring on the actual product as well as the packaging. They’re £15.50 each.
I’m not clear on how many shades of the Blush Pop there will be – I have Plum Pop (pink with a mauve edge) and Peach Pop, but I can tell you that they’re £15.50 each.
Obviously, there’s a brush set that comes in its own holder (see main picture) at £45 and even the Sonic System brush, £79, has had a Jonathan Adler colour makeover.
There are twelve Pop Lip Colour + Primer shades – I think these are the strongest part of the collection with their jewel toppers: my shiny-things, magpie eyes fell on these first and I’m completely smitten. These are inspired by Jonathan’s Globo Collection and the technical term for that jewel is a cabochon! The shades I have here are Beige Pop and Palm Beach Pop. They’re £16.50 each. I also see on the US site that there is an eyeshadow palette – I can’t remember the last time Clinique brought out a palette.
So, the launch date for Clinique.co.uk is July 7th, but the collection will be on all Clinique counters from August.
