I’m honestly such a sucker for a Chanel gloss – the brand seems to get just the right amount of barely there milky coverage that gives lips a glorious sheen and a hint of colour; perfect if you downplay your lips or like a more natural look. The Rouge Coco Lip Blush Collection is introducing the main course of Lip Blush (also can be used on cheeks) but with a side order of just about everything else! I think it’s one of those interim collections that expands existing ranges and I know the brand has changed their nail polish formula so they’re keen to get more polishes on counters. Starting with the Rouge Coco Lip Blushes (either side of the central pink gloss) in Teasing Pink and Coral Naturel. The texture is interesting: silky and pliable, and one of the very few multi-purpose lip/cheek products that does a very decent job for both. On cheeks it’s translucent, sheer colour and on lips it’s more powerful (because of the different undertones and the result will depend upon your tones, plus of course, you’re naturally more generous with the amount on lips) with a very light, not quite matte, sheen finish. There are 6 shades.
The new polish shades sit a bit oddly with the light, bright nature of the rest of the collection. I love the matte neon shade though but if you want it to be really neon and also be opaque, you’ll need to white or neutral undercoat your nails. Otherwise, they’re all rather dark and strong.
On the wheel above, Neon, Brun Contraste (a bit Rouge Noir-ish), Bleu Trompeur and Violet Piquant.
There are three new shades of Rouge Coco Shine (love this lip sheen) – Rouge Irrésistible, Rose Émotif and Poppy Orange: the shade I have is the latter. I love this formula for being juicy, sheeny and a pop of translucent colour. There are also three new shades of Rouge Coco, which is a stronger, more pigmented formula and definitely a lipstick as opposed to a gloss/stick hybrid. New shades are Rouge Intimiste, Rouge Malicieux and Corail Vibrant. The shade I have is Rouge Intimiste.
So, the swatches above are: Rouge Coco Lip Blush in Corail Naturel and Teasing Pink, Rouge Coco Gloss in Rose Naif, Rouge Coco Shine in Poppy Orange and Rouge Coco in Rouge Intimiste. With the exception of the nail shades, the new colours all say holiday to me! Bon Voyage!
The Rouge Coco Lip Blush Collection launches on 9th March.
