[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I thought it might good to hit the holiday weekend with a bit of CHANEL. I mean, there’s never not a good time for that. Specifically, the new Rouge Coco Bloom, a hydrating and plumping lipstick that has all the style of a CHANEL lipstick but with a bit more pout power.
The finish is glossy – it’s a high shine – and the colours are fairly intense so you do need to be careful with application. It has all the feel of a balm which made me want to apply it with same casual approach that I’d use for balm but in fact it needs a little more care and attention. I’d chance a balm without a mirror but I wouldn’t even think of it for a Bloom!
There are 20 shades available ranging from neutrals to vibrant and deep shades. One of the shades I picked out, Glow, is that perfect brown shade that only really comes to life with a warmed tone. I need a couple of applications of TanLuxe Super Glow Hydrating Serum (HERE on offer for £28.50 instead of £35 – and going in my basket!) followed by a base of Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint (on offer for £42.50 instead of £50 HERE) which totally sold out last year so if you have your heart set on it, don’t delay, to make it sing against my skin. Oh, and some sunshine would be nice.
From left to right: Blossom, Glow, Surprise and vivacity. To give you an idea of the oil level (mimosa, jojoba and sunflower), once swatched, the tips of the lipsticks had a water-like reflective appearance which is in keeping with the claim that the oils rise the surface on contact with skin and that’s when they come alive. I’ve done (somewhat bleary) pictures so you can see the colours on. They’re at the end of the post.
From bottom to top: Vivacity, Surprise, Glow and Blossom. They’re part of a John Lewis promotion over the easter break for £28.05 HERE instead of £33. Non-affiliate HERE.
Top left heading around the clock: Blossom, Glow, Vivacity and Surprise.
