CHANEL Les 4 Ombres de Byzance Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I think this is the last of my CHANEL posts for a while – they’ve had a lot of launches in a short space of time so I’m expecting a gap and also aware there has been a lot of CHANEL over the past couple of weeks. As I’m writing I realise I still have the nail polishes to do… So, I have two of the CHANEL Les 4 Ombres de Byzance palettes – there are four in total. For now, this is going to be easy on your wallet because they’re sold out but I would be very surprised if they didn’t restock.

On the top is Parure Baroque and underneath is Parure Imperial. As you’d hope, they swatch beautifully, are easy to apply and aren’t droppy. I’m a fan of a mono-lid – literally one colour, possibly a liner, mascara and go, but with Parure Imperial I got adventurous and used the green shade as a lower lid liner (both on the water line and under) and the metallic maroon on my actual lid.

And that’s a full foundation as well which is something I haven’t worn for a very long time. Just felt like gussying up!

But for the green, this would be a sunset palette and there are plenty of those around but I enjoyed the mix of colours in this palette that took to the next level by not making it something we’ve all seen before. Although there is no stock (do try airports if you’re travelling) these shades are excellent references for what’s coming in autumn and we can look for them elsewhere. There is stock on the French CHANEL site HERE.

This is Parure Imperiale.

This colour combination is less ‘me’ but for the shimmery white gold which is just delicious. However, it is perfect for an opulent eye – for the days or evenings you just want to go full on glamour. I’m going to be dipping into the green from Baroque a lot and the white gold from Imperiale a lot I think over the coming months. Take a look at MAC That’s Showbiz Baby and Shroom HERE for not quite dupes but certainly in the ball park of the rich byzantine trend single shadows. For the reddish tones, look at Cranberry and Sketch on the same link. Speaking of MAC, they have an offer for a free Lashes to Lips Kit worth £40 with a spend of £65. If you like to shop for seasonal gifts (sorry, can’t bring myself to say the C word yet) across the year, it’s a good offer.

Hi Jane, managed to pick up one in London Selfridges on Monday, they had stock of all four palettes then so it’s worth trawling around. Covent Garden had three in stock, but not the one I wanted Parure Cristal. Pleased I managed to get one! X

Gorgeous! My dream is for Chanel to re-issue their old Byzance collection – that one with fantastic blush as well… (I think design of that one was even more fab…) Why, oh, why was it limited edition AND limited in quantity too (was sold out in like seconds I didn’t succeed to catch it)…

I’m going to google that – my brain library has misplaced the images :-)))

    Lovely collection Jane xx

I was wandering if you’d had the chance to test the Dior Forever Shine Laquer that Dior have released. I was going to buy one but suspicious of 24 hour gloss effect!
    Thank you so much

No, they haven’t sent it and I’d also be wary of 24 hour gloss – who is up and shining for 24 hours?!

I bought one the day they launched. I don’t know what witchcraft Dior have used in the formula but they stay on all day, even through eating and drinking, and remain shiny throughout. They are really comfortable too, not at all drying.
