[unpaid/sample] So, this is a good start to the week! Les Chaines D’Or de Chanel is a limited edition 10 piece collection for the festive season with gold at its heart.
It’s a very wearable collection – no challenges with this one, and the eye shadows – Ombre Premiere Poudre have a blur quality to them that made me want to get Cuir Brun on my eyes straight away. It’s more of an olive tone to my eye and much softer in pigment than you’d expect.
The Illuminating Blush Powder is a translucent, metallic hit pink-brown that has pared back the high beam to make it less Instagram and more instant light. Again, it’s less intense on the skin than it looks in the compact which means there is space to play with intensity. The eye shadows are available in four shades of which I have two here – Or Antique and Cuir Brun. There’s also a copper pink shade, Cuivre Rose and Or Blanc, a white-gold.
In keeping with the theme, the blush has a chain effect finish which is immaculate. These things are always hard to swatch – I hate to interfere with the perfect presentation! I like the softness of it – the metallic undertones are present but don’t overwhelm the effect but it’s definitely a ‘fancy blush’ rather than an everyday.
There are four Rouge Allure satin finish lipsticks, all with a golden twinkle aspect. Don’t think so much a glitter lip as a golden nuance – it’s shimmer done really well for those who want an amplified, more lightful lip look but not be mistaken for the tinsel :-). The shades I have above are Rouge D’Or (red) and Or Beige. Or Beige has some body to it – it’s not a wash-out nude. The other shades are Pourpre D’Or (wine-ish) and Or Cuivre in an earthy pink.
Finally, the single Les Vernis for this collection in pure gold, Chaine D’Or. It’s the only thing I haven’t tried yet – just not ready for gold tips! |
In the swatch above, it’s Rouge Allure Or Beige and Rouge D’Or followed by Les Chaines de Chanel Blush, then Ombre Premiere in Cuir Brun and Or Antique. Prices are: Blush £52, Ombre Premiere £31, Rouge Allure, £35 and Les Vernis £22. If there’s a top pick to be hand – because they’re all beautiful – I’d go for Ombre Premiere in Cuir Brun because it’s so versatile for a smoky lid, smudgy liner or accenting. It’s all HERE.
