[productsample/affiliate] I’m being a bit of a lightweight today and doing only one post so I thought I’d finish the week with a bang and have a look at the CHANEL Holiday Collection – Les Ornements de Chanel (spelling correct!).
Starting with my favourite piece – Lumiere et Opulence Les Quatre Ombres (£47). Chanel is meticulous at reference drawing so the colours are taken from the apartment interior (especially noticeable with the nail polishes that emulate Coromandel screen lacquers) while the decorative effect comes from Chanel buttons. I’ve been to Mademoiselle Chanel’s apartment in Paris (the post from 2013 is HERE) and can easily see the points of connection with this collection.
The depth of colour is proving hard to capture so I have more than one of the same palette as well as swatches. Actually, I didn’t want to swatch it at all because it’s too pretty.
There are two single eye colours – Ombre Premiere – the one I have is matte in Pourpre Brun (never were two French words together so hard for an English person to say!) which comes out on the lid as ultra deep. The other shade, Grandeur, is golden but I can’t tell if it’s matte or shimmery. They’re both £31.
Next up is the Eclat Magnetique de Chanel (£52) in Metal Peach which is exactly as it sounds – a peach toned highlighter. The peach effect is subtle but definitely there amongst the light golden tones.
There are six new shades of Rouge Allure, but for this collection, they’re in gold edged casings. I have two of the colours here – Rouge Spectaculaire and Rouge Noble (the deeper, burgundy shade). They’re £35 each. The finish is a lightly satin so you get some light bounce from it.
They’re exactly the sort of impactful shades you can imagine pulling out of your handbag on a wintery evening when you’re all dressed up and feeling special.
I like that Chanel still keeps nail polish as an important part of their limited collections. Many brands have pushed nails into the side lines but these two lacquers are the pieces that draw everything together. The darkened red shade is Richness and the forest green is Deepness. They’re £22 each. There’s a beautiful Stylo (£22) in a khaki shade called Khaki Intense (see swatch) and two Rouge Coco Glosses in Rouge Carmin and Rouge Grenat (£25) that mirror the two lipstick shades that I’ve shown.
In the swatch above, bottom to top, Ombre Premiere Pourpre Brun, Les Quatre Ombres, Eclat Magnetique, Khaki Intense, Rouge Spectaculaire and Rouge Noble. You can find everything HERE.
