CHANEL Couleur Codes Review

[unpaid/sample] Okay, are we ready? Two things happened yesterday (I’m excluding the trip to the emergency vet because I don’t want to be a dog bore – all is fine) that are CHANEL related. First, Mr BBB gave me a beautiful Chanel necklace that I’d been looking at on an auction site – he’d sneaked off to Chiswick to get it – and then CHANEL Couleur Codes arrived by courier. Honestly, I am so pleased to have both – it was an unheard of double-Chanel day and while I’m usually very much of the opinion that samples are the tools of my job and not ‘gifts’, I am delighted with this brush set.

CHANEL Couleur Codes

When the items launch on 1st of July, they’ll do so in nine colours. I have Incendiaire here, but I think the one to sell your kids for will be Rouge Noir. The Brush Set contains a blush brush, a foundation brush (or powder – just as you like) and a dual ended, retractable eyeshadow brush.

Each brush has its own internal pocket so they don’t rattle about and they’re made from synthetic fibres. Honestly, this is just delicious.

Bearing in mind that we are in the realms of luxury, I was expecting the set to be more that the £144 that it is. A special birthday or occasion and it may fit the bill, price-wise.

Next up, the Compact Mirror and the glass Nail File. I already have one of these glass files and you only need to whisper it over your nail for everything to be ship-shape. It’s just nothing like the sawing you end up doing with that old emery board that has long since lost its power.

Both come in velvet pouches that, if I were to be picky, aren’t sumptuous enough for the products they contain. The theory around CHANEL Couleur Codes is that there is so much more to colour than we realise day to day. A good way to explain this is their interpretation of beige as ‘beige is not a ‘nude’, not an absence but an affirmation, natural is a style’. That suits me nicely because I like beige!

The colours? Read on.. Immortelle (lilac), Ballerina (light pink), Ovni (a neon-ish yellow), Incendiare (red orange), Premier (also red orange but fractionally brighter), Diva (bright pink), Rouge Noir (needs no explanation), Cavalier Seul (sage green) and Fugueuse (a deep blue).

Absolute vanity shot here (taken in the very kindly Portrait mode!) showing the necklace and the mirror. I’ll flag again once everything launches – I think they’ll go in a flash. Oh, I forgot to say, the nail file is £30 and the mirror is £40. 3rd July is launch day for these.

So glad for you, Jane! Lovely treats of the day 🙂 Melts my heart to read about it – moments of pure joy. And lovely idea from Chanel – all these little things… Glass files forever! I lately came across also glass pusher (like these orange tree manicure push sticks for the skin around your nails) and even glass buffer – and they are fab! (All the best to little Dora – sometimes they scare us out of the socks, especially hard it is ’cause they don’t speak… )

    1. Jane Cunningham

I’ve never seen a glass pusher before – I will Google that. Yes, she’s ok – got a thorn stuck just under her nose.. ouch!

      1. Anna van Munster

Me too – till I followed some advertised “do your own gel-nails” online shop to check what nail care they have and there was a set file-pusher-buffer, all from glass. Video seduced me… It’s doonails – the actual nail-building with powder is not my cuppa, but still was interesting to peak. Don’t know about buffer, but glass pushers you now can also find on aliexpress and such. It is harder on nails than wood so you must be extra gentle but rather efficient too.. (Btw – finally gave in and bought that lovely NailsINC set Made In Mykonos that you wrote about… What a great one! The best white ever – smooth and shining and well-covering without looking like typex. Blue is gorgeous too and the stickers funny and cute. Thanks for flagging it out – without your review I wouldn’t even know what I miss 🙂 )

Ouch indeed! Such a sensitive spot, poor thing… In these hot and dry weeks we had around all these thorns dry out and break super-easy, I took couple of thorns out of Bobby’s paws (but with him it was obvious what’s wrong and easy to fix, no vet this time). I’m sure it was not the last time with our boy – he tends to get in all sorts inappropriate and wrong places given half a chance… “M’am, it’s a beagle!”(c) – as our dog-teaching instructor answered all my complains and questions… 🙂

        1. Jane Cunningham

Oh Made In Mykonos is lovely. Yes, I think beagles are in a whole category of their own, part dog, part detective inspector!

  2. Sarah

Don’t forget to show us the necklace 😉

    1. Jane Cunningham

It’s very slightly in the picture :-))

  3. Honey McKinley

Definitely well-deserved treats for all your hard work. The brushes are on my WHEN I win Euromillions list now as they called out to me. I’ll send reiki for Dora if you would like.

    1. Jane Cunningham

Yes please – my sister is an (out of practice) Reiki practitioner and she’s done it on me before – it was marvellous. I’m thinking ahead and going to get a set for her Christmas present and store it away. x

  4. Karyn Tonkin

I have my eye on that brush set! And the mirror, I don’t hold out much hope though, I expect they will be gone in a flash.

  5. Waseema

OMG all so beautiful! Do you know if the chanel launch will be everywhere or just their website x

    1. Jane Cunningham

      Just their website I believe.

  6. Erica

Hi Jane, would you know when / if these launch online on the UK site please? 1st July today and don’t seem to be on the website as yet. Many thanks

    1. Jane Cunningham

      right now!

  7. Carrie

So…until the point that I saw the mirror in those different Chanel colours, I never really thought of myself as a handbag mirror gal…but…they’re out NOW and I’ve just splurged on the Immortelle (Lilac) version – every time I looked at the picture it made me smile so I thought ‘eff it’….I am genuinely and absolutely self-indulgently excited for when it arrives! The necklace looks ace btw! Hope puppy paw better.

    1. Jane Cunningham

Are you in the US? They’re not out here til 1pm …

      1. Carrie

No – rather than searching under Code Couleur, I searched under mirror…it came up and I thought ‘woo hoo / get IN!’ It’s an utterly frivolous treat, and if I had the cash I’d actually get the nail file as well, but I play guitar so the whole ‘long nails thing’ is redundant for me. They are so so lovely though. Such a simple idea, beautifully executed – quintessentially Chanel.

        1. Jane Cunningham

I’ve got the blue set for my sister for Christmas – so far ahead I know but I’ve no idea how long they’ll be around!

          1. Carrie

Snap – thinking about my sis and Mum…something beautiful and frivolous which they never would think about for themselves. It’s a beautiful gift – your sister will be chuffed to bits!

          2. Jane Cunningham

            I hope so!

    2. Jane Cunningham

omg I was looking at Chanel Australia! I’ve managed to get what I wanted – whew!

  8. Erica

I’m in the Uk and they’ve just gone live on the site and so have just bought a mirror! Total extravagance but love the brightness of the mirrors especially in a make up bag full of black compacts!

    1. Jane Cunningham

I’ve just managed to get what I wanted too!

  9. Waseema

I got the rouge noir mirror and file. I keep umming about the brushes as the handles are normal black

    1. Jane Cunningham

Yes you’re right – they are. I feel like rouge noir will be the most coveted so great choice there!

      1. Waseema

That is what I thought and and I am a FOMO victim always lol

        1. Jane Cunningham

          :-)))

  10. Maria
