Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colours

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colours

There are lots of new lip products coming from Bobbi Brown over the next few weeks and they’re all ultra-pigment, power lip players. Much of the newness is devoted to matte textures although there are also 9 shine shades.

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colours

The Luxe Matte Lip Colours, £28 (HERE) are the most intriguing. They’re so, so matte that they feel minutely granular as you apply and yet are weightless once on the lip. The colour lays down an immediate and highly pigmented stain – they’re really quite extraordinary and the sort of lipstick that makes say wow out loud! You need one slick of this (if you like a matte finish) and you can forget it and go. It lasted undisturbed on me for a good couple of hours – also, to note, when I applied to my bottom lip first, it didn’t readily transfer when I did the mwah so I needed to put a coat on the top lip too. That gives you the measure of its staying power – your wine glass is safe.

Shades from bottom to top are: Tawny Pink, Razzberry, Fever Pitch, Rebel Rose and Red Carpet (my test shade – even I love it and I’m scared of a red lip!).

Next up are the glossies. The Liquid Lip High Shines (£28) launch on 4th October and remind me of the Too Faced Melted Glosses – super high pigment in a lacquer finish. If you like a strong colour with plenty of shine, you have no further to look.

There are 9 shades, and the colours I have to show you from bottom to top are: Camisole, Barely Nude, Mod Pink, Tahiti Pink.

Finally, the Luxe Liquid Lip Velvet Matte, £28, actually my least favourite of the newness. I found them messy even in the swatch but if you’re a whizz with this liquid velvet texture, I’ve got not doubt that you will love them for their extreme intensity. They promise a 12 hour wear (no, I couldn’t stand the feel of them so 2 minutes was a challenge, never mind 12 hours!) and have mango extract for softening (although I note that they don’t say ‘moisturising’).

The shades I have from bottom to top are: Brocade, Follow Your Rose and Your Majesty. These launch on 4th October too.

I think the 18 shade Luxe Matte Lipsticks HERE are a revolutionary texture for mattes (the formula is currently a Bobbi Brown exclusive but I think we could reasonably expect that it might filter through the Estee Lauder group eventually) – possibly the lipstick of your life. If you’ve never ventured to the matte side before, now is the time.

I’m very wary of any liquid lipstick since trying the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis when they first launched 5 or 6 years ago. They are just SO drying. There was one colour I loved, but I chucked it in the end as it made my lips feel drier than the Sahara. Shame because the colour was lovely.

  2. I really want to try some Bobbi Brown lipsticks, they look so good!

Have you seen the Pat McGrath MatteTrance lipsticks that came out earlier in Feb this year? They look very similar in texture to the BB lipsticks: https://www.temptalia.com/pat-mcgrath-full-blooded-vendetta-mattetrance-lipsticks-reviews-photos-swatches/

Not seen.. feel reluctant to order to be honest.

  4. I am a lipstick maniac and the Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colors are the best I’ve ever found – so much colour, staying power and lip care in them. So I am very glad they are extending that line, even though I’m getting over the matte finish. Liquid lipsticks have never been favourites of mine, though, and now I know not to bother with the last one! Thanks for the review – as always honest and interesting!

To be honest the matte lipsticks are a bit disappointing I think . I agree the texture is like a second skin one on the lips, but it is also very matte indeed . Too matte perhaps ? I purchased 4 though . The packaging is beautiful, classy . I am a huge fan of the regular creamy texture and I was just considering other shades lol ! As for the liquid ones they look very pretty. I love the brand, not only the makeup range, Bobbi Brown skincare is awesome .

    Hi,
    Thanks for your review.
But I have a question. I once tried a shade in luxe liquid lip. It was such a beautiful pastel baby pink on my pigmented lips. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the shade. I don’t know if it was “mod pink” or “camisole”.
    Can you help me please.

Mod pink is more vibrant than Camisole but if you Google both by name, i.e. Bobbi Brown Mod Pink, swatches come up and you’ll be able to recognise from there (hopefully!).
