[productsample/affiliatelink] My introduction to colour deposit masks was with Josh Wood Shade Shots where the brunette one gave my hair a pink glow that I wasn’t expecting. I didn’t not like it to be honest, but it wasn’t the result I’d anticipated. So, with one experience under my belt, I was keen to try the Moroccanoil Version – the Color Depositing Mask.
There’s quite a colour selection to choose from – blue, pink, grey, brown, rose gold, champagne and burgundy – and they’re all available in single doses as well as full size as shown here. The absolute advantage of an effective colour mask is that it’s a quick fix – those days when you know you need a re-colour but can’t quite muster the energy to get it done are the ones that are soothed by this product. After shampooing, you leave the mask on for five minutes and rinse away. Moroccanoil is known for its conditioning properties, and sure enough, my hair felt perfectly hydrated and soft afterwards.
Now, bear with, because there is no ‘good’ way to show the actual product but it’s important that you see how densely pigmented it actually is – your bath or shower will need a good rinse, and I’d advise wearing gloves to apply once you’ve shampoo’d. I’ve used the Hibiscus shade – a bright, bright pink, which is for blonde hair and you won’t get much of a result on brown hair, as I discovered (wearing a pink halo again!), but if you choose for your hair shade, it works perfectly well. I’ve used Cocoa over the top which is a rich brown and sure enough, it’s given my hair a colour density it didn’t have before due to laziness in not going to the hairdresser! I’m a good candidate for this product – lazy and a bath lover so you can shampoo, jump in the bath, let the mask do its work, and rinse off and it’s really no more bother than a regular wash and condition.

The Moroccanoil Colour Depositing Masks are £28 for the full tube HERE, non affiliate HERE – out of which I reckon you’d get at least ten treatments, or £6.95 for a one shot go. If you’re blonde or grey, have a crack at Hibiscus for the fun of it. I really was wishing my hair bright pink for the weekend.
