Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande

Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Lavande

If only my lavender was out and blooming I’d be in the garden taking this beauty on location for photography. It’s just about to burst into life, but it’s just not there yet. This is the biggest progress you can imagine: I am death wish to lavender and this is the first year I’ve ever had – potential – success. A small thing, but after ten years of trying and failing I’m pretty happy about it.

So, a lavender fragrance arriving at my door feels like serendipity but we’ll see! I’m not taking anything for granted. So, Jolie Fleur Lavande is Tory Burch’s newest addition to her fragrance collection, inspired by lavender from her own garden. I’m trying not to imagine her lush swathes of bee-magnet lavender when my own strands are so hard won, but I won’t let jealousy cloud my review. Much.

So, the first blast is a lot of alcohol: you have to wait for it to dry down before the lavender starts to come through, wrapped in creamy magnolia. With freesia, it takes on a familiar ‘Lauder’ aspect with notes of orris and bergamot. It’s described as ‘tomboy and easy-going’, but while it certainly is a smooth lavender fragrance, I’m not sure what classifies it as ‘tomboy’. There’s definitely waft of violet about it, too.

Still, if you like a lavender that doesn’t make you smell as though you’re carrying an entire bush of it in your handbag, this might be the one for you. It’s in limited distribution in the UK at Harrods and Tory Burch boutiques, and it’s £95.

  1. I love this perfume, I love violets and I really picked up on that note when I wore it! Xxxx

I do love lavender, but proper, astringent lavender scents seem to have disappeared.
Good old Penhaligons used to do a perfect edt, crisp and pure, but even they, along with Yardley, have capitulated to the ‘added sugar’ brigade, and pitch their current stuff at vanilla-lovers. Grrrr.
The nearest I can get to old style, ‘green’ lavender is the dirt-cheap stuff in huge plastic bottles from
    Boots, now!
