[productsample/affiliate] It’s so nice to see Tocca with a presence again – it’s a brand that I’ve liked for a long time but it’s definitely always been niche in the UK with a much higher profile in the USA. It went very quiet for a while but seems to be back with a bang with a collection inspired by iconic women.
Tocca means ‘touch’ in Italian which is very fitting for this embracing, sensual fragrance. It’s not clear – other than Cleopatra – quite who these fragrances are named for; real or imagined women and for the life of me I can’t think who Florence might be unless it’s some part of Italian or French history I have no idea about. Despite its name, Florence is inspired by the sophistication of old-world Paris.
Top notes are bergamot, grapefruit leaves, green pear and apple, but to my nose the predominant notes are the middle of gardenia and jasmine. It’s a sweetly floral, lightly powdery (iris) and creamy fragrance (it reminds me a little of McQueen) that is a little heady and a lot impactful. Blonde wood and white musk are a steadying base without distracting from the night garden atmosphere that Florence evokes. It’s £68 HERE.
