[unpaid/sample] Well, this is fun. Absolutely everything you need to create a fragrance of your own is included in this tin. It’s all thoughtfully wrapped and top, middle and bottom notes are sectioned into little bags. The best thing is the work book that gives a detailed guide on what to do.
There’s even a label for the bottle so you can name your fragrance – which is exciting! I hadn’t even thought about that bit but having given it some thought, I can tell you it’s the hardest part of the whole adventure :-).
These are the base notes – you’ll see a little vial of Perfumer’s Alcohol and that’s used to clean the included pipette between testing. So, you start by smelling everything – take your time – and noting down in your book how each ingredients speaks to you.
£35 MYSTERY MAKEUP BAG (WORTH OVER £75)
Uncover this exclusive 7-piece set, full of mystery must-haves! Includes a full-size eyeshadow palette, exclusive makeup bag, and much more… while stocks last.
You then peg together the three strips (having written down on the paper which each one is), leave them a bit and come back and smell them all together. You can do this as many times as you have strips to be honest, making adjustments as you go along.
A selection of top notes above. You will end up with a 30m EDT (all the notes are pre-diluted) in the larger glass bottle that has a spray nozzle. Please remember that raw materials contain alcohol and are flammable so keep it safely, and that whilst this contains ingredients with allergen potential, all pre-diluted raw materials fall within the IFRA (International Fragrance Association) recommended levels.
There are some surprising ingredients – Iso E Super for one as well as Aquanol and Galaxolide… it’s definitely not simply a question of predictable notes although it does use those most likely to be popular (jasmine, sweet orange and lavender for example). I love this both as an activity and an education – at £50 HERE it’s no more than a day-course in fragrance (in fact, looking around, it’s significantly less) and feels like very reasonable value.
