[productsample/affiliate] Molton Brown isn’t the only fragrance brand that’s using Egyptian references in its latest perfume. Cairo, by Penhaligon’s and Eight & Bob’s Egypt both pay homage to the country.
The brand describes the fragrance as ‘London via the Nile Delta’. To me, it’s rather a masculine fragrance – androgynous at least. On first spritz, you get a very fresh burst of fig leaf – I’d describe it as a crisp opener because there are underlying notes of mint which come from the specific minty rose geraniums sourced by the brand. Next comes a kind of woody warmth from sandalwood which to my nose over-rides the bergamot notes. After a time on the skin, Geranium Nefertum is smooth, creamy and mildly resinous. If you know you like a chypre-type fragrance, I think it’s a win.
With Father’s Day looming, it’s worth noting that there is also a shower gel (£22) and a deodorant (£20) as well as the EDT which is £45 for 50ml. I’m actually thinking that my own dad would really like it… You can find everything at John Lewis HERE non affiliate HERE.
