Miller Harris Valentine’s Day

[unpaid/ad/sample(returned)) Rose Silence is my favourite Miller Harris scent – it’s just such a beautiful, gentle rose with fruity overtones that give it a bit more body.

Miller Harris Valentine’s Day

It’s one of two fragrances that have been given a love-over for Valentine’s Day (the other is Sherzo) by illustrator Laura Quick with hearts, flowers, diamonds and thunderbolts. So, each one comes in a coffret featuring a ribbon wrapped tin which wasn’t sent with the sample so I only have the denim pouch to show you which comes also, presumably, inside the tin.

I’m a bit of a fan of the tidiness of a coffret – all the work has been done for you, presentation wise, and it has more splendour to it than anything I could wrap myself. It’s got a Valentine theme, obviously, but personally, I think the bag in particular is a nice thing to have at any time. They’re not immediately obvious on the website (sigh) so I will direct you instead to your nearest store – at least that way you know you’ll have it in time if it’s a Valentine gift. A list of stores is HERE.

I love Rose Silence. It is my default Sunday scent. I like Miller Harris, they nail “feminine but not cloying“.

Absolutely true – it dries down to a nice skin type scent. I’ve got another fragrance coming up that I think you might love if you like Rose Silence (Friday I hope)

A returned sample Jane…do tell! Is that a first for BBB?

No – honestly it’s not! I really am happy to return things … the reality is that there often aren’t the oodles of samples available especially at higher price points. It’s usually fragrance that I take on a return basis if I think it’s something that BBB readers would like to know about – just means more people can experience it and photograph it which obviously I’m fine with. It’s rare, but not unheard of. Back in the day though, there would be ONE sample of a special palette, let’s say, that got biked by the brand around all the magazines offices – Conde Naste etc – to take their photos for editorial and then finally returned to the brand. This wealth of samples is relatively new.

Thank you, very interesting Jane. There was me thinking that all these well known brands have an endless stash for sampling / sharing. I bet those palettes looked a bit battered by the end of the round.
Can I give a shout out to the ssshhh bargainous Fragrance Society scents at Primark. Ridiculously good value at £8 for 100ml esp the Velvet Blush.

Really? I’ll take a look next time I pass xx
