Jo Malone London Red Hibiscus Cologne Intense Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I said it was a fragrance heavy week, and by the looks of things, next week will be too because there are some great launches and new-to-me products to review. But this one, Jo Malone London Red Hibiscus Cologne Intense, as part of their limited edition Blossoms collection, is nothing short of delicious. It’s a holiday in a bottle – powerful, resonant and evocative.

Jo Malone London Red Hibiscus Cologne Intense Review

It sits alongside Yellow Hibiscus Cologne as new offerings although there are bring-backs such as Frangipani Flower and Nashi Blossom, as well as a body mist in Nectarine Blossom & Honey and a solid fragrance duo in my favourite Orange Blossom and Nectarine Blossom. The collection is joyfully uplifting and a rush of summer to come.

Jo Malone London Red Hibiscus Cologne Intense Review

You will like the distinctly tropical Red Hibiscus Cologne Intense if you fragrance preference is for heady and exotic blends. There’s a juicy mandarin top note that keeps things fresh but the power comes from jasmine sambac and ylang-ylang with a creamy vanilla base. It’s a solar fragrance so your olfactory memory will ping you with thoughts of sunshine and beach sunsets. Most hibiscus have no fragrance at all so what we have here is an impression by the nose, but it all adds up to a voluptuousness that’s rather addictive. It’s £134 for 100ml HERE or £64 for 30ml coming soon.

Yellow Hibiscus Cologne

Yellow Hibiscus is the gentler sister of Red Hibiscus. This time, the opener is lime so it’s immediately sharper and fresher but floral notes, including rose, soon appear. Powdery notes from white musk will remind you of your sun tan lotion and as a whole, it will remind you, subtly, of beach walks and sunshine because it too has a solar aspect. It’s for you if you prefer a more discreet scent that is more the white linen dress than the hawaiian print shirt. It’s £52 for 30ml and £105 for 100ml HERE, non-affiliate HERE. I’d have to describe these Blossom scents as optimistic – they’re happy, joyful and tropical and for me, at least, exactly what I needed to smell.

Ah Jane, this post has made me excited for the day I’m able to wander Fenwicks again! I think I’m more a Yellow kind of girl but can’t wait to find out for sure. Happy Friday x

I hate to say it but last time I saw Fenwicks (Bond St), they’d reduced their floor space significantly. I’m concerned they may not survive – I hope they do.

These sound lovely, a real spring feel. I’d love if there was a miniatures set available for some of the Jo Malone scents – like the Jo Loves set featured recently.

I agree – I think they must do one at some point because sampler sets are proving to be so popular.
