Chase & Wonder Library Candle

[productsample] This just seems like the perfect candle to have on the burn today – it’s grey and wet outside with light drizzle and clouds obscuring any summer blue. I don’t mind at all being given a day off from ‘enjoying the weather’ – it’s the ideal opportunity to hole up and not feel guilty for staying inside. Library is exactly the right companion for days like these.

The fragrance is exactly the old, sweet, mahogany smell that you’d imagine in the halls of a stately home. It’s sweetened a little by pomegranate notes and a leather accent wraps around the smoothness of the amber.

The throw isn’t huge – you can safely burn this in a small room without being overwhelmed – but it’s evocative and emotive as well as being strangely comforting. The burn, so far, is clean and even (it’s a mix of soy and vegetable wax) and I’m actually looking forward to using the jar as a vase when the wax is done. It’s £45 HERE. The book I’m reading at the moment (on and off) is In Order To Live by Yeonmi Park HERE – a tough read true story of a young woman’s escape from North Korea, so if the rain carries on, these two things are my companions for the afternoon.

Thank you so much for making me feel normal. I often feel under tremendous pressure to “make the most of it!” when the sun shines, and the odd wet day is a great excuse to watch Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares or reorganise the cupboard under the stairs.

Lots of us do – I wrote something on Summer Sadness which I think is really a thing – I don’t pressure myself to be ‘outside’ just because the sun is out anymore. It’s a big relief when you allow yourself just to do as you damn well please regardless of sun, wind or rain!
