Annick Goutal Tenue de Soiree

Relax! Nothing Christmassy here – in fact you have to fast forward to 2017 before you’ll be able to get your hands on the Annick Goutal Tenue de Soiree fragrance. Translated, Tenue de Soiree means evening dress or attire, so it’s that rather glamorous, gourmande type of chypre that places itself firmly next to your little black dress.

I don’t really like gourmands or chypres particularly, but can see that this type of fragrance has been missing from the Annick Goutal line up for some time. I see why it’s there. What I don’t see is why the brand is not choosing to share the notes. That’s Serge Lutens’ old trick! I get sweet and fruity from it with some muskiness, but it could be anything. Toffee and bilberries? Cupcakes and sweetcorn? We’re all just guessing here unless you’re truly a fragrance afficionado.

I guess it’s one that can’t really be bought on-line on a whim – it needs to be tried on the skin. On me, the sweetness stayed and everything else disappeared. Anyway, Annick Goutal Tenue de Soiree hits at the end of January. I DO love that pom-pom which you can use as a key ring and I also love the bottle and the packaging design.

  1. One of my favourite and most memorable fragrances I’ve owned was an Annick Goutal one, I can’t remember the name of it sadly but it smelt like fresh cut grass and peaches, it was so lovely! Mum bought it me as a treat one Christmas as I’d never be able to afford it otherwise.
